Veterans Day Recognition – Bryan Bates


In honor of Veterans Day, we salute Lieutenant Bryan C Bates, our current MS student, who is also a Veteran of the US Navy! After obtaining undergraduate degrees in Physics and Mechanical Engineering from Rice University in Houston, Lieutenant Bates enlisted in the US Navy and joined their nuclear power program, where he completed Nuclear Power School and Nuclear Prototype School. After receiving his commission as an officer, he served as a Qualified Reactor Plant Watch Officer/Crew Training Officer on Moored Training Ship (MTS) 701 at Joint Base Charleston in South Carolina. We are honored to have Dr Bates in the UF Medical Physics Graduate Program and thank him for his service in the United States Navy.
