One of our graduates (Michael Hermansen, UF PhD 2019) has notified us of the below employment opportunity. It’s great to be a Florida Gator!
Ironwood Cancer and Research Centers in the Phoenix metro area will be opening a new comprehensive cancer center in Goodyear, Arizona around May 2024 and will be adding a new staff physicist for the site. We will be commissioning a new Elekta VersaHD linac and a new Flexitron HDR afterloader at the new site. The linac installation will begin around March 2024 with the flexitron installation later in the year. This new site will also have an empty vault for the future addition of a second VersaHD linac.
Ironwood Cancer and Research Centers is a physician owned practice with 5 comprehensive cancer centers with 8 beam matched Elekta linacs with Mosaiq RV and Raystation treatment planning. We utilize portal dosimetry for patient specific QA. We also have 2 Elekta Flexitrons and one Varian GammaMed which will be replaced in the fall of 2024 with a new Flexitron, all utilizing Oncentra for HDR planning. There are 7 physicists across 5 sites. Physicists perform the SBRT/SRT and HDR planning. We are looking to add at least one more physicist and probably another in the not too distant future. We prefer a physicist with ABR certification, but certification is not required.
If you are interested, please send your Resume/CV to the Chief of Physics, Tim Paul. Please contact Michael Hermansen with any questions.
