
Join us in welcoming Dr Justin Brown back to the University of Florida! Dr Brown will join UF Medical Physics as an Assistant Professor and Clinical Medical Physicist starting June 1, 2026.
Dr Brown earned dual undergraduate degrees (Applied Mathematics/ General Physics & Applied Physics) from the University of Idaho in Moscow, and then came to the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he earned his MS and PhD in Medical Physics and completed a three-year diagnostic imaging medical physics residency.
Subsequent to graduation, Dr Brown accepted a position as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging at McGovern Medical School with The University of Texas Health (UTHealth) in Houston. In his current role, Dr Brown holds multiple clinical appointments, to include working as a medical physicist, radiation safety officer, and magnetic resonance safety expert. He also has many teaching responsibilities and serves as a mentor to multiple graduate students and residents. In addition, he serves on numerous committees.
Dr Brown is quadruple board-certified by the American Board of Magnetic Resonance Safety as a Magnetic Resonance Safety Expert; the American Board of Radiology in Diagnostic Medical Physics; the American Board of Science in Nuclear Medicine in Nuclear Medicine Physics and Instrumentation; and the American Board of Medical Physics in Magnetic Resonance Imaging Physics.
He is actively involved in multiple regional, national, and international professional organizations; holds several editorial positions; and is actively engaged in research endeavors, resulting in numerous publications and presentations.
Since graduating from the UF DIMPR residency in 2023, Dr Brown married his beautiful wife Gianna, and welcomed his son Jack into the world. We are honored that Dr Brown and his family are returning to UF and look forward to welcoming them back!
