Welcome to the University of Florida’s Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physics Residency Program’s (DIMPR) website!
The University of Florida has a long history in Medical Physics. More than fifty years ago, two Medical Physics pioneers, Drs Larry Fitzgerald and Walter Mauderli, started our graduate program, which continues to thrive.
In 2011, after continued success and growth of our graduate program, we established a CAMPEP-approved Imaging Physics residency program for Medical Physics graduates to complete a clinical residency. In 2019, we began offering an optional third year of nuclear medicine training.
A PhD in Medical Physics is required before beginning our residency program. This UF Office of Graduate Medical Education (GME) requirement ensures that you have already been well-trained in research activities and enables us to concentrate on developing your expertise in clinical physics and teaching skills.
Our graduates are all diplomates of the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in Diagnostic Radiological Physic (Go Gators!) and are employed in academic medical centers, hospitals, or consulting group practices.
We are excited about your interest in our program and look forward to receiving your application.
