UF DIMPR residents are required to have a PhD from a CAMPEP-approved medical physics graduate program, or a PhD and a certificate from a CAMPEP-approved medical physics certificate program. Candidates who have successfully passed Part 1 of the American Board of Radiology (ABR) medical physics examination, have the most desirable background for acceptance into our residency program. In exceptional cases, remedial coursework may be obtained during the residency from our CAMPEP-approved UF medical physics graduate program (up to 2 courses).
Please note that you must have completed ALL degree requirements for the PhD degree before beginning as a resident in our program. Only one resident is admitted per year, with a July start date.
We participate in the MedPhys Match program, which provides an orderly process to help applicants obtain positions in Medical Physics residencies of their choice, and to help residencies obtain applicants of their choice. Please review the MedPhys Match Schedule of Dates to ensure that you meet all applicable deadlines.
Please submit your application and all accompanying materials through the MedPhys Match system. Subsequent to review of all applications by the Program Director and Steering Committee, on-site interviews will be offered to the strongest candidates.
On-Site Interviews
Overview
A typical interview includes a full day of activities (program overview, interviews with faculty and residents, lunch, a tour of the health science center, applicant research presentations) that spans from approximately 7:30AM to 3:30PM.
Please note that we also include an optional social outing the evening before each interview day.
Transportation
The Gainesville Regional Airport (GNV) is a short drive away from the University. Taxis and Ubers are both available. Orlando International Airport (MCO), Tampa International Airport (TPA) and Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) are also options, although you will need a rental car to get to Gainesville.
Accommodations
The Reitz Union Hotel is located on campus and is only a short walk away from the UF Health Science Center.
