Liana Mulet
Medical Physics Graduate Program

Liana Mulet, MS Student

  • Owatonna, Minnesota

  • BS: Nuclear Engineering; University of Florida; Gainesville, FL

Liana grew up in Owatonna, Minnesota, and decided to escape the cold by attending the University of Florida for her undergraduate degree. There, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering with a minor in Physics.

While Liana enjoyed Nuclear Engineering, she feels that Medical Physics is the perfect way to extend her knowledge into the medical field. Liana became interested in Medical Physics during a seminar course in her undergraduate degree. Her interest was solidified while participating in the UF Medical Physics Undergraduate Internship program where she shadowed professionals in CT, x-ray, IR, and ultrasound, and also worked with Medical Physics PhD students.

Liana then continued on to author a technical note (Protocol for the measurement of the absorbed dose rate to water for a planar 32P beta emitting brachytherapy source: A multi-institutional validation) in collaboration with Mayo Clinic and UF on the calibration of a P32 source used for brachytherapy. This note was awarded a poster presentation at the American Brachytherapy Society annual conference.

Outside of academics, Liana enjoys traveling, cooking and baking, reading, movies, and taking care of plants and animals.
